Expert Coaching That Builds Players, Not Just Highlights
At FCV Hoops, we don’t run cookie cutter camps. We coach with intention.
Our Spring Break Basketball Camp is built around how players actually learn, not just how drills look online. Every coach in the gym has real playing experience and real teaching experience, and more importantly, they know how to put athletes in situations that force growth.
We coach using a Constraints Led Approach, meaning players don’t just repeat movements. They solve problems, make decisions, and learn how to play the game in real time.
Basketball isn’t a script, so we don’t coach it like one.
What Experienced Coaching Actually Means at FCV Hoops
Skill Development That Transfers to Games
Anyone can run lines. We teach skills that show up when it matters.
Players work on
Ball handling under pressure
Footwork that creates real separation
Shooting mechanics within movement
Defensive positioning and reaction
Instead of isolated reps, athletes are placed in guided game like situations that demand reads, timing, and creativity.
Teaching the Game, Not Just the Move
We want players to understand why something works.
Through small-sided games and constraints, athletes learn:
When to attack vs. when to slow down
How spacing actually affects decision-making
How to read defenders, not memorize moves
This builds confidence and basketball IQ — not robotic players.
Feedback That Builds Confidence
Mistakes are part of the process. We coach them, not punish them.
Players receive:
Clear, honest feedback
Individual cues they can apply immediately
Encouragement to experiment and adapt
Confidence comes from understanding, not fear.
How the Camp Is Structured (On Purpose)
Every day is designed to keep players engaged, learning, and competing — without wasting time.
A Typical Day at FCV Hoops
Morning Warm-Up : Movement prep, coordination, and light conditioning to get bodies ready.
Ball Handling Drills: Decision-based dribbling, change of pace, and control under pressure.
Skill Stations: Shooting, footwork, defense, and finishing — all taught through constraints that force game-like reads.
Lunch Break: Time to refuel, reset, and connect with teammates.
Afternoon Gameplay (CLA-Based): Small-sided games, modified rules, and live play where players learn through the game, not lectures.
Daily Wrap-Up: Reflection, feedback, and setting intentions for the next day.
This structure keeps athletes learning without burning them out.
Growth Beyond the Court
Basketball is the tool. Development is the goal.
At FCV Hoops, players build:
Discipline through consistent effort
Resilience by working through challenges
Teamwork by learning how to play with others
These lessons don’t disappear when the camp ends.
Why Players Love FCV Hoops Camps
“The drills actually made sense in games.”
“I wasn’t scared to make mistakes.”
“I learned how to read defenders, not just do moves.”
Players leave sharper, more confident, and more comfortable playing their game.
